Secretary’s Report

Kathy Thornton’s report of the May board meeting was reviewed and accepted by the BOD.

Treasurer’s Report

Brenda Iemma’s report for the period ending July 31, 2010, was reviewed and accepted by the board.

Tournament Manager’s Report

June Sectional

The June tournament made a small profit, but the June tournament is traditionally our sectional with the lowest attendance, and the floor cleaning fee has increased.

The Bridge Mates were a success and should decrease the number of caddies we need.  There are also fewer scoring errors, and Joe recommends we continue to utilize them.

A Scheduling Committee meeting is coming up in Nashua and our proposed sectional dates through 2013 are in place.

Gala

The cost of the dinner to attendees will be set once we determine if the cost to us by the Shriners has increased.

The board has approved the rental of a van for transporting our tables and supplies, should that be necessary.

Joe Brouillard is working on hiring a director for the event.

The sign-up sheets will go to Kathy.

Joe, Kathy & Lois will deal with printing and assembly of sign-up sheets, etc.

Sue has been working on Bridge Bits and presented the Board with a couple of copies for review.  Modifications were suggested by Sue and will be made.

Old Business

Charitable Donations:  The Association has donated $500.00 to the Food Bank, and $500.00 to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Massachusetts with the designation that our donation will be used for the benefit of Rhode Island children.  We have received a thank-you certificate from the Shriners Hospital, and we have been permanently inscribed as donors.

Elections:  Sue and Lois will be up for re-election at the Gala.

Bill Shockley states that he will have information regarding the STaC games next time.

New Business

The next regional will be coming up in Nashua.

Joe will be finishing as Tournament Manager at the end of the year and would like to begin training a replacement.  Terry Parkerson has expressed interest and will spend time with Joe at the September sectional.  Anyone else who might be interested may contact Joe Brouillard.

The course for Unit Recorder sponsored by District 3 will be held in Waterbury and Bill Shockley, our Unit Recorder, plans to attend.

Sue will plan to make some club visits within the unit.

The Disciplinary Chair has been vacated and Chris DelSesto will now fill that role with the addition of committee members Sue Erwin and Kathy Thornton.

A Compensation Committee has been formed to review compensation of board members.  David Prentiss will chair the committee.  Committee members will be Bob Erwin, Joe Brouillard, and Kathy Thornton.

A new membership directory will be published this year.  Joe has the information and will create a new directory from his database.  Kathy will have the responsibility for having the new directory printed.

The Annual Unit Meeting will be held at the Gala, and the next meeting of the BOD will be in December.

The meeting was adjourned at 6:43 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathy Thornton

Secretary, Unit 145
