The President John Berry called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm. Those present included John Berry, Robert and C. Suzanne Erwin, Judy Biegner, Louis DiOrio, George Cundy, Bill Niemi, Amos Foster, Arlene Roberti and Maureen Johnson. The minutes from the last meeting were read and accepted. Bill Niemi presented his last Treasurers report for 2004. The report was accepted as presented. The January 15th and 16th 2005 Sectional was discussed. Amos presented the Sectional report showing a net loss of $48.82. The motion was made to accept the report and was seconded. A vote was made and the report was accepted as presented. The Sectional’s number of tables were down 17.5 tables, 5 of that because Saturday night 5 tables were turned down. There was a discussion of having more refreshments at the sectional and doing a long break instead of short ones. Bob Erwin suggest Maureen Johnson and Kathy be in charge of hospitality.  There was a discussion on going back to 56 tables for the Sunday Swiss Game. The motion was made to go back to 56 by Amos and seconded by Judy. It was voted on and accepted. There was also a discussion on adding a side pair game on Sunday for those not wanting to participate in the Swiss. The motion to have a side game on Sunday with pre-registration by Wednesday and a 5 table minimum was made and voted on. The motion was accepted. Judy Biegner and Bob Erwin will be the contact persons for pre-registration.

New Business

There was much discussion on Bridge Bits and the cost of distribution. Amos pointed out that the board had previously allowed $100 for the maximum cost. The remaining costs have been allotted to the tournaments. The President John Berry disagrees with the way the money is allocated but there has been no resolution of the matter. For the time being things will remain the same. There was also talk of e-mailing Bridge Bits to those that would like to receive it to cut postage costs.  The decision to just continue to mail for now was made.

The upcoming Gala was discussed. It was suggested that it would be a two-day event. The game on Saturday will be a qualifying game for the championship game on Sunday. Those not wanting to participate in both days’ events will not be required. The dates for the Gala would be October 29th and 30th held in Richmond RI. The motion was made and seconded to except the two day event and was voted on. The motion was approved. The President John Berry adjourned the meeting at 7:05 pm.

Respectfully Submitted,
